The Jaguar XK 120 four-seater by Abbot was stored in a barn after blowing a head gasket on the way from Christchurch to Queenstown on the South Island. The owner planned to restore the car but then changed his mind. The car spend twenty years in the barn, partly dismantled and stripped of paint.

A staff member of the local restoration company informed his boss about the car. After a look in the barn they sensed to have stumbled upon something very special. After a period of study and fitting pieces together they found the car to be fully complete. An extensive restoration started in the year 2002 (see chapter ‘restoration’).

The Jaguar XK 120 Abbot four-seater DHC was officially sold to a collector from Belgium.
2005
The restoration company was invited to present the Jaguar XK 120 Abbot four-seater DHC
on the Pebble Beach concours d’elegance. Regretfully the car was not yet finished.
Early February, 2006 The 'Abbott' was brand new restored. The automobile was tested and the last mechanical adjustments have been carried out.

The very special Jaguar made it to the national news on Television New Zealand, a videotape of this event is present.
February 19, 2006
The Jaguar was shipped heading for the port of Rotterdam (NL) where it arrived on March 23, 2006.
April 6-9, 2006
The perfectly restored automobile was on show at the Essen Techno Classica.
During 2006 and 2007 the Jaguar XK 120 Abbot four-seater DHC was mentioned in a variety of classic car magazines. Octane wrote a special about the car in issue 47 of May 2007.
April 2007
The Abbott was on show at the Essen Techno Classica. The Abbott won the first prize as best restored automobile of the show!
